Street furniture and structures

What gets installed in the street faces two demands at once: withstanding the weather and public use for years, and looking good while it does. We fabricate structures and sculptures for public spaces from the project design.

Structures

Structural elements for public spaces and outdoor use in general: frames, supports, enclosures, pergolas, railings and guards. We bend the section when the design isn't straight, which in street furniture is nearly always.

Sculptures

Large-format pieces for squares, roundabouts or buildings, fabricated from the design by the author or studio. We work with the artist to solve what the design doesn't: how it is held, how it is transported and how it is anchored.

Material and finish for outdoor use

In the street, the finish decides the life of the part:

  • Stainless steel: the option when it has to last without maintenance and on view. Satin or polished, depending on the desired effect.
  • Mild steel: shot blasted and painted, when structural strength or the project colour is what counts.
  • Galvanised steel: corrosion protection for items that are not on view or will be painted later.
  • Aluminium: when the weight of the part is a constraint on assembly.

We work with designers

Architects, landscape studios, builders and artists. The design comes to us and we contribute the fabrication expertise: what thickness is needed, how to divide the part so it can be transported and where the weld should go so it can't be seen.
