Plate rolling and shell sections
We roll plate up to 2 metres long to make shell sections, hoppers, tank bodies and any curved surface that then has to be closed by welding.
Up to 2 metres long
That is the working width of our plate rolls. Longer tanks are made by rolling several shell sections and joining them afterwards: this is standard practice in metal fabrication and does not compromise the result.
What we roll
- Shell sections: the rings that, one after another, form the body of a tank or silo.
- Hoppers: discharge cones and truncated cones.
- Plate in general: any surface that needs to stop being flat.
- Tank bodies: the complete cylinder, ready for heads and fittings.

Materials
Stainless steel, mild steel, galvanised steel and aluminium. These are the four materials we work with in all our processes.
70% of what leaves our workshop is stainless steel, so that is where we have the most experience. But your project need not be limited to it: many parts combine stainless with mild or galvanised steel, depending on the function of each section.
Stainless steel needs extra care in this process: contact with rollers that have worked carbon steel can contaminate the surface and later ruin its corrosion resistance. That is why subsequent finishing is not optional on stainless.
From shell section to finished tank
Plate rolling is hardly ever ordered on its own. It is usually part of a complete tank, silo or hopper, with its heads, nozzles, legs and stairs. We can make the whole unit.
